I bought these Etnies Marana skateboards for my 9 year old son who is just starting out in skateboarding. While the black and blue colorway was a hit with him, I was more interested in the shoe's durability and comfort. Overall, I felt these shoes were a worthwhile purchase. They held up well to many falls and skateboard scrapes, and the soft sole provided adequate comfort for hours of activity. However, I warn parents to be careful with the size. Etnie's sizes seem to run on the small side and we had to order a full size down from my son's usual size before they fit comfortably. While the shoes are well made, I noticed that they started to wear out after only a few months of use. While they're great for active kids who need a durable shoe, they may not last as long as you hope. Overall I would say these shoes are a good entry point for young skateboarders but be prepared to order a size up and you may need to replace them sooner than expected.
