In the same way as described in the insert, it is used to make stencils.

I used these sheets to make stencils for painting canvas shopping bags. 14mm mylar is quite difficult to cut by hand with a utility knife. I could do this with a little diligence and perseverance, but if I had to make new ones I'd probably go with something thinner, preferably around 10 mil.
