I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis for almost a year and am getting various advice from doctors, forums and most importantly a shoe salesman. I didn't develop PF when I was an active runner. I didn't develop it from plyometrics or other dynamic or explosive exercises. I developed PF because I was too heavy trying to reach my 10,000 step goal :( It's not fun to maintain this increased activity. First steps in the morning are a real killer and long days of standing and walking leave me back I almost got rid of plantar fasciitis thanks in no small part to these boots.I was frustrated that the doctor's advice didn't help and the solutions used and discussed by the runners only hurt me more. All of this advice was aimed at PF and to help athletes recover from a sports injury. However, the advice I got from a local shoe salesman really saved me. First thing for me. NEVER WALK BAREFOOT, especially early in the morning. I keep a pair of Nike sandals ( which are surprisingly supportive ) close go to bed and put them on first thing in the morning second for me get a really GOOD pa ar hiking shoes for the weekend. I chose these shoes as opposed to Skechers which I wore. Thank you Revan! The local shoe salesman basically explained to me that I absolutely DON'T need flex-soled shoes. It was the opposite of what an athlete might want to do. A flexible sole causes your foot to become stronger and stretch the damaged part of the plantar fascia. For me, the most unsportsmanlike sufferer, this led to me constantly re-injuring my leg. What fits you may be very different than what fits me, but I feel like I've found a good shoe. More on that below Finally for me. I bought a set of Superfeet BLUE Premium insoles for my work shoes. They give my work shoes the same support I finally got from my sandals and sneakers. I spend about five hours a day standing and walking, averaging between 6,000 and 8,000 steps. I can finally get through every day (several weeks) with normal fatigue. I feel like if I had always used these insoles and heeded the advice not to go barefoot I would have gotten rid of PF a long time ago. But the combination of the above practices has actually resulted in some healing over the past few weeks. In fact, I recently started golf and decided that if I have time or only play 9 holes I'll go through the course. I'm not a good golfer but it's amazing I've played about 100 holes of golf with no PF pain! I will order more shoes from VIONIC and will have something to say. The only thing I would like to mention, however, is that they do little work. I wear men's 13D. If I had to order shoes that weren't my size, I could go for a size 12.5 - my feet aren't long enough to have issues with the smaller size 13, but those of you with toes in shoes can I." I'm not helping you. When in doubt, order these shoes a half size down. You'll get great shoes! What I needed from a weekend shoe was support and these shoes are great. When it comes to golf, I have these shoes in my first few Worn rounds instead of golf shoes. They gave me enough traction to play at the end of a wet winter but more importantly I found I could finally put a few miles back without severe plantar fascia pain!I didn't have to break in these shoes and have no blisters or hot spots very very happy with my purchase I will also be posting an edited version of this review for the insoles I purchased but I really want to recommend these shoes!
