No problem. These are split ring pliers. I have some fairly small (3/8") split rings that these pliers hold and release without a second thought. The design is so good it seems like the pin that opens the ring has a mind of its own and finds it just the right place to pick up the wire The clearance the pliers provide when opening the ring is adequate for most applications - about 1/8" I would say. This is enough to fit most keys or almost any fishing tackle in the ring. Even if you have to place a wider object on the ring, the resulting gap is usually sufficient to slide the thicker object under the open tip and then move it. Durability and build quality are very good. The hinge has no play.
