Review on Dorman 674-927 Catalytic Converter with Integrated 🚀 Exhaust Manifold for Ford Models: Find Non-CARB Compliant Options by Roel Lebron

Before installing the unit, test the heat shield; see texts.

The distributor and converter are very similar to the originals, although the body of the replaced converter appears to be smaller; Maybe the core of the factory block isn't bigger than this, so I can't tell if the looks say anything in that area. The results of the running test showed that it is fully functional (the voltage of the lower O2 probe constantly fluctuates around 7.0-7.3V), there was no rattling and no poor seating of the flanges, but the upper position of the O2 probe does not fit. Matches well with factory hole in heat shield; It took some "adjustment" to get the wrench on the sensor to tighten it with the screen in place. It's easier to install the sensor before mounting the manifold, but make sure there is enough room on the heat shield so you can attach a wrench to the sensor later, or one day you'll curse whoever skipped this step . (DO NOT LEAVE THE HEAT SHIELD DISABLED.) Unfortunately, the heat shield must be removed from the header to access the mounting studs and cap screw, so make sure you have a flashlight, mirror, and an assistant to help you. align the sign with the attachment points. Also, the works block had bolts welded into the bottom flange, while this one only has bolt holes and the bolts are not included. If your old block's nuts came loose intact, just get some 10x1.5x40 bolts from the hardware store. If the nuts are rotten in place or beyond repair (which is often the case), purchase the appropriate nuts as well. The lack of welded studs on the bottom flange actually simplifies installation as you don't have to worry about orienting this part when maneuvering the header into place, but it would be nice if the necessary nuts and bolts were included in the kit . There was a hardware kit for the heat shield and support bracket but not for the bottom flange. If the flange bolts were in place and the O2 sensor hole lined up perfectly with the heat shield, it would deserve a fifth star. Anyway, if you know the problems in advance, they are easy enough to solve, and the price is very justified for small efforts.
