Review on Men'S Pinstripe Business Suit Vest - Formal Dress Tuxedo Waistcoat By Alizeal by Chad Sornsin

Awkward fit, appears to have greenish tones

I’m not entirely sure what’s going on with this vest. The fit is awkward and the color is a bit off.I will try to be as thorough as possible in this review so that I offer an accurate account of MY EXPERIENCE with this vest, while also providing consideration to the craftsmanship and extending the benefit of the doubt to the manufacturer and/or seller. I feel this is the fairest way to approach an honest review.I’m VERY well-versed in ensuring accurate measurements and selecting the appropriate sizing of garments. There are several components to consider for online buying of clothes, since you can’t try them on beforehand. The main issue here appears to be with the cut. Maybe it’s the actual pattern used, but mine could also just be a piece that missed quality control. The shoulders sit and extend wider than a vest should. I can see this easily becoming crumpled or creased at the shoulders if worn under a suit jacket, which would not be attractive to the wearer if they want to remove their jacket. If worn alone, you’d avoid unattractive wrinkles; however, it would still sit wide on the shoulders, possibly with a bit of overhang AND it looks "boxy” in the upper chest area. To fix this, it would greatly benefit from appropriate darts sewn in. Again, this is assuming that the vest I received for review is actually the vest being produced and not a flawed piece. The waistline is important because you want a vest to fit well: not so tight that the buttons gap, not too loose that the vest appears to "hang” off the shoulders. A proper fit is what creates an attractive appearance. (This is why finding the most accurate size, or knowing a good tailor, is a requirement.)This vest is loose at the waist. The adjustable back strap and buckle is what delivers a good, streamlined fit… but the strap on this piece easily slips from the buckle and the actual construction of this vest does not have tapered sides, so adjusting the strap creates an awkward "blousing” of the sides. You really want a clean and smooth look from the front and have any gathering at the center of the back, situated between the attachment seams of the strap and buckle.Overall, this vest does not produce an attractive fit. Instead, it looks "boxy” and off.Perhaps this would be more suited to someone with a bit more weight in the midsection, or an overall "heavier” build- and that may also address the wide-set shoulder issue.I will say that besides the brown fabric appearing to have a "greenish” tint to it, there are some positives that are only fair to point out.The stitching is solid and even, no loose threads or double stitching. The buttons are secure and fit well into the buttonholes without slipping out or struggling to insert. The pinstripe is clean and matched up evenly.I will definitely be able to tailor this piece for a n appropriate and attractive fit. But if you do not have the ability to do so or do not want to pay or do not have a tailor to make this vest work, I suggest making a different selection.

Pros
  • Men
Cons
  • The vest may wrinkle easily, causing it to look unkempt and unprofessional
