I've been flipping through adult coloring books like crazy lately and I wanted a sharpener that works well with crayons and doesn't cost a penny. This one definitely delivered. I use Crayola colored pencils and switched the nib size to medium. Not the dumbest, not the sharpest setting (although they come out sharp and consistent - I haven't had a case of lead falling out or snapping). The only reason I give it 4 stars is that despite the fact that you can put batteries in it, the feature doesn't seem to work, probably because the entrance is bent. Even with all 4 AAs connected it should shift a bit as with new batteries it stops sharpening after a few seconds. However, this isn't a problem for me if I really want it close to me (the cord is probably 3 or 4 feet long). I simply unplugged the USB and plugged it into my phone charger. It consumes no power unless sharpening. This adapter is still 100% charged despite being plugged in and sharpened for two days. Simple solution, nothing serious. I definitely recommend it. The only other thing I've come across is that if I don't drain it completely when I "should" it will stop sharpening, but all you have to do is tap in the forward direction to to remove the shavings from the blade It works. .
