A real table or a piece of wood is very good. Good color, good finish, beautiful and durable. However, the box fell apart. When I unpacked it all these little silver balls and green plastic things were everywhere. I'd never seen a turntable or a lazy Susan in plays like this, so I had no idea what it was about. When I attached the swivel base to the wooden table top, it didn't rotate. It froze in place. After troubleshooting, I noticed that there was a small piece of green plastic sticking out of a seam on the turntable. After COMPLETELY taking the platter apart, I found that all those little balls and bits of plastic had to go into the track to help it roll and spin. Well, a few balls and plastic pieces got lost somewhere in the shuffling, but I put them back together as best as I could. He's still catching a little, but at least he's spinning now. I think if it stayed on beat it could handle quite a bit of weight and rotate easily.
