Walking shoes with great toes, but it's important to match expectations to your child's problem. My 4.5 year old daughter had physical therapy to stretch her tendons and then she had SMO braces but wearing them was painful for her and we could barely use them 2 hours a day. Her toe walk is idiopathic so we don't expect shoes to solve the problem, but they definitely help her relearn. The stiff heel and ankle serve as a "reminder" when she tries to stand on tiptoe because it takes effort. The shoes are comfortable so she can wear them from morning to night without complaining - they're not hot or sweaty, they don't pinch anywhere, they give good support, they keep them in the right position, and they don't wear them while running or playing stumble. She can easily walk on her toes in regular shoes and often falls while running/jumping, but this makes her more stable and balanced. We didn't have any falls in these shoes :) The outsole has some cushioning and you can see it hugging your foot slightly. Measure accurately, order the appropriate size shown in the chart, and the fit should be good. My child has a narrow little foot but the straps allow for a good fit. There is still a small gap on the sides, but the material is soft and doesn't rub. For normal shoes I would order a size 9, but for these shoes a size 8 fits with some room for growth. The quality is very good and I will definitely order again as it is a great alternative to painful braces. It's not a substitute for all medical conditions and I don't know if the results would have been the same if we hadn't gone to physical therapy, but it works for her needs. She definitely wears her toes less barefoot as long as we stick to casual wear, and that's half the battle - for a kid who hates wearing shoes of any kind and complains about the seam in her socks, she wears them and says so much off!
