I recommend storing and leaving the pump in a 5 gallon bucket.
I took a chance ordering this after seeing a 1 star review. It turned out to be exactly what *I* needed. Sorry it didn't work for the other reviewer but that was just the part for me. For the first 24 hours after installation I recommend storing the pump in a 5 gallon bucket and running it - just to make sure everything is tightened properly. If the bucket is still dry after that, then everything is fine.
