I've had many high quality turntables in my life but just wanted something simple that would allow me to transfer old vinyl records to my Mac Powerbook Pro as mp3 files. I had to experiment a bit, but it worked for me. I would recommend connecting the computer directly via the RCA jacks rather than using the player's internal USB port. In my testing, USB recording was flat and lifeless, while RCA transmission was bright and clear (for LP). As for the sound, just listening to the LP is ok, nothing special. Most records benefit from amplifiers and equalizers that this turntable is not designed for. If you just want to relive your childhood memories by listening to old vinyl records, this is a good choice. I like the portability of the device. The design of the case allows me to store the device in a closet when I'm not moving it. All in all, this player does what I wanted, which is to connect to my laptop to convert recordings to mp3. The quality of the mp3 is decent and I can adjust the audio using the audio apps on my Mac. If you're looking for something to really enjoy new purchases during the current vinyl craze, I'd go for something more expensive.
