At first I connected the flash to the camera with a cable and it didn't work. A connection was not transferred. After removing the cable and looking through all the reviews to see if I'm doing something wrong. I thought I would have to send it back. It was depressing because I was so excited to see this with my new braces (you know the feeling). Anyway, long story short, I tried connecting in the camera menu and it didn't register. I then completely unplugged the cable again and connected the flash to the camera to make sure it worked. It was. THEN the cable is back. and it worked. Hooray! Five stars because it now works better than expected. I've had issues connecting to Vivitar in the past (e.g. buying a Vivitar flash) and the product worked for a while, after which the Canon camera wouldn't read the sensors. I checked, it's a common problem. i was cheap Then I realized that I should buy a Canon flash. For the first 8 months the Vivitar was fine and at $100 I couldn't complain considering the Canon is 300+. The thing is I spent more money going cheap than if I had just bought a Canon. What does that have to do with it? Why did you buy another Vivitar product? I bought this cable because it's cheap and I wanted to see if I would actually use it. I just want anyone interested to know that the Vivitar is not designed to run for long periods of time. It just isn't. Whether you're using this cable as a demo to see if you want to use a mount, or to test lighting creativity, this is a great little cable for the money. Much better than spending a lot of money on a cable that you may end up not using after the first week of use. If you KNOW you need a durable cable or flash (you will always need a flash), then buy from the camera manufacturer.
