Buying a food processor based on ratings is not easy. First, these are frankly fake reviews, then reviews that the brand is bad because production is moved to China (which everyone generally is), and then many of the reviews that appear honest are from people who basically love smoothies make . None of these types of reviews are helpful to me, so I'm writing a fairly detailed review here to help others who are using their food processor the way I use mine. I use my food processor for everything. Most days it's used multiple times a day for things like mayonnaise, nut butters, meat and vegetable pies, mashed vegetables, and of course chopping and chopping veggies. A cheap food processor cannot handle such a load; I've tested several inexpensive models that have received excellent reviews from people who use their machines less intensively (more normally). I was torn between this Cuisinart and a double priced Breville. Since the stand mixer is the most important tool in my kitchen, I'm happy to spend money on a good one, but I want it to last. Issues mentioned by other reviewers, notably the complex large pusher mechanism and water retention in the grip. I bought the Cuisinart Elite anyway as it was one of the most popular food processors on many websites and articles and the Breville reviews matched Cuisinart's pretty closely. Just in case, I also bought the Square Trade protection plan; I never buy extended warranties, but this time it seemed reasonable. Other reviewers have mentioned the complicated product sliding mechanism. I agree it's tricky and will probably be the first point of failure but I think it's ok mainly because I was very careful with it because of the warnings. When washing I put it aside and do it last to dry immediately and put in the pen. Another issue mentioned by other reviewers that bothers me is the grip water issue. So far I haven't had that. I really like the arrangement of the bowls. I can use the small ones to make mayonnaise or sauces that require a lot of scraping in a large bowl and would create a lot of waste if transferred to a storage container. The small bowl is very convenient, but has one problem: it has small ribs around the top interior space that extend about 1.5 inches around the rim, making that area of the bowl difficult to clean. but the ease of use would be much better if those ribs were locked inside and not protruding into the work area. No issues with the large bowl. Love the pour spout and the fact that I can leave the blade in place while I work. The seal around the inside of the lid and the slot both inside and outside the lid is a bit difficult to clean. I keep an old toothbrush under the sink and use it to get into hard-to-reach places. The problem is solved. .The base is heavy as others have noted; This is an advantage when you're making things like nut butters that require a lot of processing, because you can walk away and not worry about the machine coming off the counter, which is detrimental. if you need to move the machine from the counter to the storage room like me. My kitchen is too small to leave appliances on the counter so I keep mine in the bottom cabinet making it difficult for people with mobility or back issues to lift and remove. It is difficult to determine if the lid is properly closed before the machine is turned on. I don't see that as a problem; A click is heard on contact. To lock the lid, you need to press in two places - on the handle and in the area of the spout. Just listen to the clicks and you will be fine. Removing the cover is very easy, just press the buttons on the handle and gently push forward. So far I am very happy with this food processor and I hope it will last for many years to come. If not, I'll definitely update.
