When our daughter got to turn it on the batteries had been replaced with expired dollar store carbon batteries. Put fresh batteries in, and our daughter loved it. She loved playing with the horses, giving them a ride in the hopper freight car. And cutting sprigs off the tree, trimming them to shape, putting spray snow on them and sparkles, and putting them in the freight car to deliver Christmas trees. It runs about 5 hours on a set of batteries.Once the difficulties were overcome it was cute. The locomotive has a nice Christmassy look to it. Our daughter loved playing with it. She found plastic reindeer at he store to put in the hopper with the trees. Next year though I will try our luck at getting a more expensive model train level of set that will be quieter and has a wall power pack.
