Okay, I'm an avid cyclist (at least 100 miles a week) and just finished my first ride on this wheelset (38mm). When pedaling, the wheels are smooth and roll well. They respond to acceleration comparable to more expensive aluminum wheels. Of course they are more aerodynamic than your standard aluminum wheels, so you save energy. The reason I gave these wheels 4/5 is that there is a lot of lag when spinning freely. The freewheel mechanism is noisy and most likely the bearings aren't the same as your top wheels, so you won't slide forever with minimal effort. In fact, I spun the rear wheel while stationary and the blob slowed it down noticeably more than my friend Rolf's rear wheel with the same force. I also usually pedal on descents and don't confuse people too often, so it's not a big problem. For a beginner cyclist who wants a beginner carbon wheelset this is a steal! I paid $360 with taxes and these wheels are just as good if not a little better than my aluminum Bontragers. I've never ridden high quality carbon wheels (Zipp, Reynolds, Eastons) so can't comment on how comparable they are. But for the price, these bikes are great for training or traveling.
