Not for use with standard drawing tools

I bought these to use on my splash guard. I used a small brush and a small sponge. Neither one nor the other worked. He smeared the paint under the stencil, which ultimately distorted the look. I see that these stencils only work if you paint on a canvas or board with a small brush. Anything else and it looks like you're getting the poor result I got. And if? The project I have set out to do will last forever. It's not worth it.
