Great riveting tool

This tool is great for threading metal when the metal isn't thick enough to carve. Very easy to use. I'm only giving 4 stars for strength just because I believe this tool was designed for 1/4-20 or larger threaded nuts, but there are two or three mandrels for smaller thread sizes which I guess if you're not very be careful, due to the complex operation of the tool, you easily break them.

  • New
Cons
  • Doubtful

It works - and it trains

This tool is recommended for installing a positive nut as it requires longer mandrels. However - it requires a considerable effort - depending on how strong the plush nuts are. I tried to use this to assemble a van but found it difficult to use for ceiling mounting or in places where the tool could not be used. If there is an alternative tool that could work using a drill/screwdriver that would be great - depends on how many of these nuts you have to install.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

I bought this model (1450) because it allows for longer Plus Nuts and regular rivet nuts. It's a bit unreliable getting the mandrel off the Unscrewing shorter regular rivet nuts as the mandrel is so long and the smaller sizes are very easy to snap into place by holding the weight of the tool and twisting the handle to unscrew the tool from the installed nut when all is set correctly this tool is easy to use and very effective.

Comes with lots of spikes, works great, great price

I bought this set instead of the regular 13" set because it had more spikes and they were long. Long mandrels work great with regular sized rivets. I actually needed an M4, so of course I had to buy a cheap $10 knockout from Revain. Unlike the regular set, this set does not include rivets. I used it on a Harbor Freight sandblasting cabinet with M4 rivets installed with this tool (and I brought the M4 mandrel separately). Take it easy, you can always attach and pull again. You cannot assemble a…

What is that foul smell?

The plastic case is cheap plastic that smells awful. The problem is that the tool, parts and instructions/warranty card are in the case and therefore also carry the stated smell. I started filling out the warranty card but the smell made me sick. Thing is, I need a tool. I hope it fades with time. I can soak it in a natural solution that will remove the odor, but the tool will rust. The tool is durable, well built, comes in a variety of sizes, and seems easy to use. If the manufacturer can…

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Nothing here

Opened and missing parts meaning it was probably used before it was sent to me. M8 mandrel and key missing. I contacted the seller because I had bought him over a month ago to try and get everything ready for a van conversion and knew I would have trouble getting everything on time if I didn't order in advance . I loaded a 10-32 plus nut onto the mandrel and the tool snapped and would not tighten. I hope that the seller will agree to replace the tool with a new set. I will update after hearing…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Some small things

It appears to be a well made tool and it works well but ultimately despite its price its design isn't all it's designed for jobs in the narrowest space. It needs a very large space around the hole where you want to install the cross nut to work properly. Not only do you need to position the tool in front of the hole you're working on, you also need to have enough room to twist the handles in and out. This can be very limiting if you're working somewhere, e.g. B. under a car where many things…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Appearance

I tried a model of this tool with shorter mandrels for standard rivets and it broke on the first try. I think this is because people (like me) don't understand how much force they are applying to the tool. I'd really like to make changes to the design that would allow some sort of spring loaded pin to show how much clamping force is being applied. Of course, this will most likely increase the cost somewhat. The most important thing to understand when using this tool is that you have to operate…
