Review on 🐾 Amazon Basics Less-Mess Cat Litter Box Mat: Reducing Cat Litter Scatter and Keeping Your Floors Clean by Sharon Payne

Not perfect, but helps.

My husband and I love cats. In our small apartment there are always at least 2 kittens. Keeping track of kitty litter outside of the box has become a part of my daily routine. I have a broom by the toilet. To try to minimize tracking I put towels in front of the box as well as a few different types of rugs. It's the first to actually capture most of the trash. Now I use the broom every other day. A big improvement for me when sweeping every few hours. The downside is that "it actually catches junk". Try cleaning this carpet! Here's my best solution: 1) I bought 2 mats so one can be used while the other is being cleaned. 2) I switched to a clumping clay filler which dissolves over time in hot soapy water. 3) I shake the dirty carpet to remove anything that might fall out. 4) In a large mop bucket, I add 1/4 cup Pine Sol and hot water, then fold and lay the mat dirty side out to allow the hot water and Pine Sol to soak into the fibers. I leave it on for about 30 minutes and rinse off from time to time. 5) Drain the dirty water (outside or in the toilet) 6) Spray the mat with very hot water and then throw it on something to air dry. holds water so it takes some time to dry. Hence the second carpet. It's not like new, but clean enough that when it's 100% dry I put it in a plastic bag. Hope that helps!
