BENEFITS - Sturdy cardboard packaging holds pens securely and does not smear (except black pen) - Odorless mineral spirits and a blender based on colorless alcohol work well with these pens. CONS - Really missing reds and lighter yellows. not very good with them. - Water soluble (only a minus if you use mixed media). I think they would work better as a complement to other pencil sets rather than a separate set based on color choice. They are similar to Castle Art pencils and are softer than many other budget brands. They generate quite a lot of "crumbs" so be careful, you'll get over them quickly if you push harder (and they're not publicly available for purchase). I will probably use these with other mixed media sets and pages to extend the life of the pens. If these were my only pencils the price would be hard to justify as quite often I would have to buy complete sets. But as an add-on set or with light pressure use, I think it's a good choice.
