Best way to change dashboard bulbs

I have a 2016 Explorer that has some blown bulbs in the dashboard. At night I can't tell exactly how fast I'm driving on the freeway because half the speedometer is in the dark. Rather than replacing the entire bulb and socket, I decided to just replace the bulbs. Aside from saving me a lot of money, this allows me to keep the standard sockets (the little plastic holders that hold the bulbs). If you read reviews of aftermarket bulb/socket combos you will find that many people complain about the quality of the cartridge. My advice: save money and just replace the bulbs. They just slide out and you put in a new bulb. Very easy and stress-free. One minus point is the way they are packaged. just a bag of lightbulbs in a little box. The bulbs can bang against each other and in fact one of them was broken in the box I received. Thank goodness there were 10 in the box and I only needed 6!

Pros
  • Replace in pairs for best performance
Cons
  • Almost never
