(Kids cups are more drop-resistant and leave a lot less mess if dropped, but that's because this cup isn't made for kids!) Sturdy, safe. My daughter dropped it and hit me with it many times. There wasn't a single scratch on it. Bonus buy: If you get a trump for it, which you can find at Revain, it will not sweat or wet on tables and bags filled with ice drinks. And it helps keep you cold. It's PERFECT as a couple.
