Review on Fiskars 194900 Back to School Supplies: Preschool Training Scissors (Color May Vary) by Kim Sanchez

Good design bad production

The scissors have a smart design with a small orange lever that can act as a spring. The build quality is terrible. First, the blades weren't straight, so I had to take the time to align them with pliers. Then the small screw holding the two plastic pieces together kept falling out. It turns out that the hole for the screw is unthreaded, so the screw will never stand still. I had to use epoxy to glue it in place. Tightening the screw is awkward because while it looks like it will fit under a Phillips head, the recess is too shallow and you actually want a flat head. To be honest, I spent more time in the garage fixing these scissors (and looking for something to fix them) than my toddler used to cut with them. I am very disappointed because we have several Fiskars garden tools that have performed well. I thought it was a reliable company but I will not buy Fiskars shears again.
