Review on Microsoft LXM 00001 Ergonomic Keyboard by Kevin Barbon

Update: There is a problem with this keyboard.

Update: Initially I liked this keyboard but after some use there was a big problem. Look at the right and left halves of this keyboard. Notice how much wider the right button area is compared to the left. The problem is that you often have to stretch out your right hand to press backspace, =, underscore, etc. I'm a software developer and I hit these buttons a lot. This created a reusable issue on the right outside of my right hand. I'm selling this keyboard and trying the new Logitech Ergo K860 to see if it works better. The other issue with this keyboard is that it folds out easily. That means you have to stretch more, which means more re-injury, and I have BIG hands. Another thing to note about ALL Microsoft ergonomic keyboards is that keystrokes are like walking ankle deep in water. The buttons should have a press and rebound feel. These keys feel soft and require effort. This causes my whole arm to hurt after a while. If you want one of these keyboards cheap, mine is for sale! I am writing this review for this keyboard right now! Before this keyboard I had an ergonomic Microsoft SURFACE keyboard (grey), I never got used to this keyboard. The flat surface of the keys never lined up with my fingers, the spacebar squeaked annoyingly, and connecting via Bluetooth was annoyingly slow. With this keyboard, the keys form a bowl and my fingers land exactly on the keys I was hoping for. I have far fewer typos, and while the keys have more travel and feel a bit chunkier than crisp, I can type a lot faster. I prefer chicken-style keys that click slightly, but I won't get that bowl-shaped key style like on this keyboard. I also like that this keyboard is wired so you don't have to wait for a Bluetooth connection. The wrist pad on this keyboard is also very good. I definitely feel at home with this keyboard, it feels comfortable and familiar without requiring a lot of learning. Thank you Microsoft! I'd like a highlight and a bit more crisp feel here, but that's by no means a deal breaker. UPDATE: A backlight would be very helpful with this keyboard. Sometimes it's hard to see the Fx keys.
