Yes, I could use the VGA connector, but using a high-resolution cable to a high-resolution monitor/PC seems to be the way of 2020. The picture quality looks great, I think it's a bit better than the VGA cable. Oh, and my Surface doesn't have a VGA port, so I needed some sort of adapter. And I can use this adapter with my MacBook Pro too! So it will have a function after work from home is over.
