Review on Bissell Powerfresh Pet Steam Purple by Phillip Hoover

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Purple Pet is the best in steam cleaners, steam mops and accessories

I had 3 steam mops. Bissel, Dirt Devil and some other brands. Of the three, Bissel seemed to last the longest. This "Purple Pet" is clearly my fourth steam mop. Other than that, this "Bissell 19404 Power Fresh Pet Purple Pet Steam Mop" seems to do the exact same job as its 3 predecessors. Despite the fancy promises (on my previous steam mops), the only difference I've found with this "Purple Pet" steam mop is that it *comes* with a few extra accessories. The "home" part of the name (and color) appears to be a marketing ploy. Other than that, it looks the same as other steam mops that look the same as the ones I've had before. But that's not a complaint. I have pets. cats, dogs, ferrets. I also have carpet, natural wood, ceramic tile, and vinyl floors. This mop works as expected on all of the surfaces I mentioned and does a very good job on each of them. In dirtier areas I just make more passes over the surface. The tank seems small, but the mop seems a little more efficient with [distilled] water when set to medium. So far there have been no problems with the cap. But she is fragile. I've had this "Purple Pet" mop for a few months now and I'm happy with it. Even my husband uses it. There is a plus! ;) I gave this "Purple Pet" 4 stars because it doesn't really stand out from the previous 3 steam mops I've had. Each of them made big statements, and yet they still did the same things. approx. one year with frequent use, distilled water and good care. Hopefully this one will last longer due to technological advances. For the price I paid, I think it's worth its weight in terms of ease of use and chemical-free cleaning. If I have to, I'll happily buy a new one next year.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
