Modern life requires the ability to open a bottle with a lid and lift the ring or pull tab on a soda can. The Wichard shackle lifts the bottle's cork in one motion. Other tools of the same size or smaller work by prying open the folded edges of the lid. Some knives have a ruthless design that requires the blade to be open to use, allowing you to have that "hold my beer" moment as you open the beer with the knife. The exception is the Glock 81 field knife with a root saw, which is ideal for lifting the lid thanks to a lever on the blade. The Wichard U-key is relatively smooth and doesn't catch on the seams when pulled out of the watch pocket. It has a good lever for lifting the bottle cap and the narrow end works well for opening soda cans.
