They are strong and work well but do not completely block seed coat spread. Unlike most products, the clamps are made from solid wires that fit the cup very snugly; they don't break easily. A clumsy bird will not take off either. The disadvantage of the wire is that it is not painted, but the galvanizing is visible. I get a lot of seeds on the cage floor but the birds love to scrape up the seeds they need. However, the higher back prevents the seeds from being scratched outside the cage - they are all inside. If you are looking for durable, this is perfect. If you want aesthetics, keep that in mind, but there are other options. Trying to prevent seeds from falling out of the cage works well, but not so well inside. this works better for smaller birds. I would buy it again but I don't think I will need it unless I buy another cage.
