Interesting clasp design but a little hard and scratchy

Short version: If your cat is fussy about collars or has sensitive skin, you might want to look elsewhere. If your cat doesn't care, these collars are worth it. Long version: I have 2 cats so I ordered 2 of these collars, 1 green and 1 purple. They arrived exactly as pictured which made me very happy as I really liked the colors and patterns. I also liked the design of the clasps. My cats ruined their old collars by taking them off while they slept and then chewing through the prongs on the clasps so they wouldn't stay closed. The fasteners on them have no protrusions, but consist of two solid parts: one is a flattened ball that slides tightly into the other, shaped like a leaning shell. Unfortunately, these collars did not work. For us. When they arrived I noticed that the material around the edges is a bit stiffer and more scratchy than ideal, but I decided to give it a try anyway. One of our cats was perfectly happy with his but our other cat must have had a more sensitive neck as he did NOT like his neck. He's never really liked collars, but if we distract him with toys and food for the first few hours, he'll get over it and tolerate wearing the collar. After a few hours with that collar on he started running amok - running as fast as he could around the house, only pausing to scratch his neck and then running like crazy again - so we gave up and took him off. We now know that we have to physically go to the pet store and handle the collars before we buy them! (Both cats fully settled into the new, softer collars after 2 days.)
