Review on πŸ“· Giottos MH1304-110C: Ultimate Precision and Stability with Professional Mini Ball Head by Gary Lucas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Impressive features for its size and price

This is a fantastic little device - you get a lot of ball head for its size and price. A previous reviewer thought it could only carry 3 pounds, so I tested it with the heaviest gear I have - my Olympus E-M5, battery pack, 50-200mm lens with mounting ring and flash. Everything says it's a 5lb 6oz Micro 4/3 photo quality - and the ballhead handled it without too much trouble (see photos of this unit for proof). I could tell there isn't much support left at this load, so you're probably safe to within about 6lbs (I'm not sure I'd rely on that for a full 7lbs). So it's not as fancy as a bigger/heavier/expensive head - just one button controls all head movements. But for small (tourist) tripods or monopods, this is a great device. Slip a basic Arca clip over the top (I would recommend the SUNWAYFOTO DDC-26 clip with 26mm screw grip) and you can really think of it as a "professional" travel tool.

Pros
  • A handle for locking the ball and socket in place
Cons
  • So far so good
