We have this and a very portable potty seat (one with handles that we can detach and take with us anywhere) and another larger, more durable bucket seat. My 3 year old son prefers this. He can attach it and the seat and use it by himself. This step also serves as a step for him to reach the sink faucet. Although the ladder seat we bought was more expensive and has a padded seat, we rarely use it. He's standing on a toilet that no one uses because it's much harder to move back and forth. My son can't move it by himself.
