Review on Winix 5300-2 Air Purifier: True HEPA, PlasmaWave & Carbon Filter for Odor Reduction - Gray by Erica Welch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

False advertising good for air purifier

Do not buy this device.!. First, don't believe in all that plasma. This device has nothing but a HEPA filter and a large pad of Scotchbrite that they call a charcoal filter. This is not a carbon filter. If you look from the front with the filters removed you will see a squirrel fan cage, if you look down you will see the other side of that cage. After the filter there is no ultraviolet. The Hepa filter helps remove the dust. Small particles in the air. But that's all. Doesn't do anything about odors, bacteria or anything else they claim. I tested the carbon filter in distilled water. And took a wisdom test. As I suspected, nothing happened. A real activated carbon filter breaks down in water. Saturated charcoal releases fine particles of carbon, leaving black carbon on any surface when rubbed. Bacteria and pathogens can only be reduced in this way with ultraviolet light. If you re-filter the air in your home, you'll find cheaper options. And if your house has central heating/air conditioning and you already have this type of filtration, I'm returning this unit now
