Review on Hydro Flask Insulated Food Bilberry by Jennifer Vasquez

Not bad for keeping food warm for a relatively short time

I chose this food tin to take soups and stews to the office. I have another one that I've been using for years and it works great but sometimes I can't take it home so I needed another for those occasions. It's not bad; It works well and I like it, but it doesn't keep warm as effectively as my other food jars. What. Rather, it is just a double-walled stainless steel jug with an insulated lid. I was surprised at the size when it arrived. I ordered 20 ounces. The can is the same size as mine. I expected it to be taller and narrower; Instead, it's shorter and wider than my other glass. This is actually a good thing as it fits in my lunch basket more easily than carrying it separately. It works quite well in use, but my other glass works better. By filling it with boiling water and letting it heat for a few minutes before pouring it over hot soup, my soup goes from very hot to just warm between 5am and 11am. It seems that things are better with cold things and the temperature rises more slowly than it falls. It's ok for half a day, but I wouldn't dare count on it for more than 4-5 hours. That's fine for my purposes, but others might not feel that way. It's not a bad food jar, but there are better alternatives. On the one hand, it's short and wide rather than tall and narrow, which makes it a little more manageable in my case. On the other hand, it's not as efficient as some of the other options available.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • poorly thought out
