HotHands heating pads work very well. In the fall and winter, I often work outdoors and keep heating pads in my pockets to keep my hands warm. Toe warmers are just as effective. While heating pads work adequately when their plastic packaging is opened in cold weather (presumably outdoors), they work much better if the heating pads are removed from the packaging *before* using them outdoors. Open the plastic wrap, give the warmers a few minutes to warm up a bit, slip them into your pockets or gloves (or toe warmers in your shoes), and you're done. Typically effective within 4-6 hours depending on weather conditions.
