While this filter is certainly heavier and stronger than the Motorcraft OEM filter, it does not appear to restrict airflow, although it is slightly more difficult to find on Ford vehicles (Escape and Focus) is to be installed). My main issue with the filter is that it doesn't do what is advertised first on the box which is "block and control odors" so I decided to buy it instead of OEM. Exhaust fumes, smoke and animal (skunk) odors will pass through this filter just like a cheaper OEM filter. I have made sure the filter is fully installed and installed in the correct orientation. It's not like I need them either, but the fitting instructions that came with the filter are completely wrong for the application it's probably used for most, and an inexperienced person would have to take half their car apart to figure out where this is filter. So if you're into DIY car maintenance, save yourself a few bucks and hassle and just get a Motorcraft OEM filter.
