First one was a loss, once you get the hang they're easy to make

I got this for my 5 and 10 year old daughters. They love trolls, and they love scrunchies. This kit comes with enough supplies to make 12 scrunchies, although ours was missing one set of elastic and we needed to supply elastic of our own. The fabric is already sewn into tubes with open ends so there is no sewing required. There is strong fabric glue provided which works well.My 10 year old was able to read the directions and work it herself. Her directions are to cut a length of elastic to 10 inches and attach the plastic "lock" ends by tying a knot on the end and sliding the plastic lock down and over the knot. You take the elastic and tuck it into the plastic rod on the scrunchie maker, using one plastic lock to keep it attached at the top and another at the bottom. The directions say to make it tight but 10 inches are slightly too long to make it tight so she would make it shorter to keep it on the rod. You then put the fabric tube over the elastic and plastic rod. Once it is threaded over, you pull the fabric off and hook the plastic locks together. Clicking the locks together are easier said than done, you have to make sure the extra tail on your knot is cut short. They basically twist together. The seam is visible so she put a line of glue and then folded it over. The glue does take a while to dry so it's important not to think you will be able to wear them quickly. Once the glue is completely dried it holds well.My daughter made a couple adjustments to use. She was not a fan of the hard plastic "locks" in her scrunchie. She did try tying the knots together with a square knot. She also likes a fuller scrunchie look so she cuts the elastic shorter so the scrunchie looks fuller and more "scrunched".The kit comes with sequins that can be glued to the scrunchie. She didn't have a problem with them falling off and thought they were a fun touch. From a kid point of view she found it frustrating but discovered a method that worked. From an adult point of view you are basically paying for fabric tubes, glue that holds, and a fancy threader.
