Review on ProCare Stabilized Ankle Support Medium by Adam Gambel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Supportive but stiff

This is the exact same ankle brace that my podiatrist is charging insurance companies $100 for. He supports me very well and when my ankle injury was acute it was very helpful. After the most acute stages of the injury, I was itching to switch to a different bandage. This orthosis contains two rigid plastic inserts on opposite sides of the ankle. In combination with other structural elements of the corset, it severely restricts freedom of movement. This may be just what you need during the acute phase of an injury, but wearing it for more than a few days has created other problems. The corset has changed my gait so much that I have new pain in my knees, hips and back. I also developed skin irritation where the brace was causing pressure or irritation. As such, I would enthusiastically support the use of this brace under the guidance of a doctor or physical therapist for short periods of time, but I would advise you to replace the ramp with a less rigid neoprene wrap to avoid secondary stress, irritation and injury. .
