The key is adding liquid.

This is the blender I bought to make homemade baby food and puree for my baby. Of course everyone wants a Vitamix, but not everyone can afford one, so we're looking for the next best thing. I wanted a blender that didn't take up too much space, was easy to clean, and powerful enough to blend and have a smooth, runny texture. Not to mention a lightweight wallet. My first (unfortunate) purchase was a Ninja - I returned it a week later. He left unrubbed lumps! So NutriBullet was my next option. What drew me, like you, to this particular blender was the 1700w power - you would think that a more powerful motor equals a more powerful machine. In this case, a more powerful engine means hot soup. In terms of usage, I think whatever you mix into this thing should have liquid in it (it says so in the instructions too). Therefore, when preparing baby food, you must add distilled water or milk. If you're making a smoothie or soup, you'll need to add milk, water, or broth. One star off for essential fluids. Otherwise everything gets so slippery and my little one eats every bite of puree. Bonus points for soup and mix. Soups are really tasty and hot! * Before I buy, I rely on Amazon for reviews on almost everything. I enjoy giving back to the community by reviewing articles myself.
