a small hand-sized awl with a sharp end. I never thought I would need one of these (didn't know what an awl was). However, this little tool is great for untangling knots. It saves me a lot of time untangling rope, leather, silk and polyester cord/thread knotted with a nail. The tip isn't as small as a needle for pulling a splinter out of skin, but it's still useful for cleaning under your fingernails or removing a small object from a hard-to-reach spot. a pouch for use as a defensive weapon (looks like a mini hairpin). I can order another one just in case.
