There are no markings on the volume knob. The volume knob should have a line, so you know how far you’ve turned it, and so others can set it to the correct volume for your baby. What truly irritates me is the sound is absolutely NOT continuous. I wanted the white noise to play all night while my baby sleeps. Instead, it cycles through (I can’t say how long, I never timed it) and between the ending and beginning again, there are a solid 6-8 seconds of silence! The ending has a nice fade out, but the beginning doesn’t fade in, so the sudden reappearance of white noise after a long pause is enough to startle my baby. I would have returned it if I hadn’t already marked a line on the knob so I could consistently turn the volume to the correct level.
