Review on Mudder Portable USB LED White Light Lamp - Dimmable & Touch Switch - for Laptop Computer PC (Black) by Keith Morris

Brightness control is excellent

I like the super low light. Enough to see the keys of the laptop. It helps. It has a touch sensor to turn on and off at full brightness. But when you hold that sensor, the light dims to its lowest level (it stops at minimum brightness, not "off"). Since it resets to max every time I can see it's annoying when you need a certain average brightness, but I'm only interested in min and sometimes max so it's ideal. On some lamps I see the lowest dimming level is actually only 50%, but this one is closer to 10% as it should be. Easily fits in a laptop bag. The neck is also metallic and feels nice and strong. The first thing that comes to mind about IDK: the design of the lamp body. It consists of a thin metal tube wrapped around a thin, clear, hard plastic tube that houses an LED strip. About 1/3 of the metal tube was cut off to reveal the plastic and LEDs. So say you have it horizontally. Now let's say you want to twist/rotate it so that it glows at a larger or smaller angle (imagine the barrel rolling). It's really difficult to do this because to get a good grip to get the torque you need you're squeezing a thin metal tube and possibly exposed plastic as well. In addition, the plastic tube rotates freely in the metal tube. Due to the strong neck, it requires some strength to turn and there's just no way to grab it. You can use some tricks to get the bar to do what you want, it just isn't the natural thing to do the job. However, I don't see a big problem if you don't squeeze the tube of the lamp body. I've only used it once, will update if anything happens in the near future.
