Update: After some research and experimentation, I have confirmed that the noise decreases as the hub moves away from the computer. From what I've found, the minimum distance is the length of the short USB cable connecting the hub to the computer. My solution was to use an Amazon Basics USB-3 extension cable and place the hub and my external drives about 2-1/2 feet in a straight line (or radiate) on a bookshelf next to my desk. Now the hub does exactly what I want it to do (and what it claims to do) so I'm increasing the rating to 4 stars. I'm still deducting a star because the seller (and Amazon) didn't mention the interference issue in the product description. Initial review: I was about to write a five star review for this device before attempting to go online once plugged in. After some testing, I have no doubt that it will interfere with wireless connections when connected to my 13" MacBook Pro (2016). As good as it allows me to connect USB-powered external hard drives, its usefulness is due to this particular issue limited.
