Eufy Security Overview I've spent a lot of time researching alarm systems. I used to work for an alarm systems company and believed in intelligent systems controlled from home. Eufy drew my attention to the doorbell after many great reviews. I decided to keep all my sensors and cameras on one system for easier management. Now that I've had it for 8 months: I'm going to talk about the pros and cons of this system from my experience. My system includes: 2k wireless doorbell camera, door/window sensors, motion sensors, Eufycam 2c (wireless) version, Eufy Cam 2 and 2k indoor pan and tilt camera. I tested most cameras at maximum sensitivity. Pros: 1. Doesn't burden your WiFi: We have relatively low bandwidth, a decent number of smart devices, and Eufy works well most of the time! The range is good too. I have a camera in my backyard far from home and it streams well.2. Local Recording: Peace of mind that someone in the company or something isn't watching you. I hope haha.3. Installation and configuration: I don't know how it could be easier.4. The user interface is easy to use and customizable5. Battery on special cameras. The version 2 camera lasted 6 months before I had to charge it and I had high sensitivity most of the time. The 2C cameras are good but not quite as advertised. The doorbell is the worst and I have to charge it every 2-3 weeks or so. Cons: 1.) Motion detection is my biggest issue with the system as most products use this hardware to trigger alerts or record. . - Detection/Range is NOT 30 feet. I've measured with multiple cameras and it's rarely captured anything that far. Normally the recording starts somewhere between 10 and 15 feet (ie half?!). Not good. - People and dogs? nope This is often accompanied by cars, rustling leaves, cloud movement and a sinusoidal sun brighter than a second before, and more. This can be very frustrating, especially if you're on people-only mode. WHICH PERSON CAN MOVE 35 miles an hour and be 12 feet long? Or what kind of person is 3 inches tall and brown...that is, a leaf? Ha ha. - Slowly: If someone rushes to your door or past the camera, they won't be caught. I get a lot of posts about people leaving UPS. - Sometimes misses the obvious: A family member walks ten feet past the camera or to their car in the middle of the day and nothing works. A little creepy. This is especially weird as I get 3 triggers a day from a gust of wind but not from a person walking by... I don't get it. 2.) False alarms. Basically, it is the motion detection product mentioned above. The scariest thing is having an alarm for "departureβ in the middle of the night. In the basement, the heating goes on and the "motion detection" alarm goes off. You jump out of bed... oh shit, is someone in the basement? Grab your gun, the woman is chasing the kids... your adrenaline kicks in at 2am and... (thankfully) nothing. Do it a few times with a camera or motion sensor and then it turns into a screaming wolf situation. It's scary when you really have to be on your guard even though you've developed tolerance. But, hey, now I'm good at "sweeping" the area like the SWAT team I see in the movies? Haha3.) Motion detection in the evening is set to "all" by default. So when cars go by you have to turn off the notifications or else you'll get a lot all night. 4.) Doorbell battery life: If you want to pay close attention, it will run out quickly. Again, in my experience, it picks up late, so I have to use it with high sensitivity or it misses the obvious. And yes, I've tried placing it in different locations. 5.) Picture quality is not as advertised - for "2k" on some of these cameras it doesn't feel like an ad where you can zoom in and see a license plate or something clearly. ha ha. The faces are good but not great. Certainly better than others, but still not what you'd expect from what appears to be the highest end of the wireless consumer market. 6) Incomplete Security Items: These are bonuses but fire detectors, flood sensors or other items. that would make it complete. Includes monitoring service. It would be great if you took a week vacation. I would pay for it. Finally, I like that some competitors have a cellular signal in case the Wi-Fi goes down. 7) The indoor camera has its own security settings. Why is it separate? Just treat it like any other 2c or version 2 camera. Conclusion: I had high hopes for this system. Other systems seem less compatible with Google Home, either charge money to use the cloud or don't record locally etc. There doesn't seem to be a perfect all-in-one system. It is very good. If I had to do it again I would just use the doorbell and maybe the door/window sensors. I then bought cameras and motion sensors from another company hoping I could pair it all with Google Home or something.
