I bought Jamo to replace a Yamaha subwoofer that was having problems. The Yamaha has served me well, but it ran, so I was looking for an inexpensive alternative that would fit a small office. At this price point, the Jamo is pretty impressive. Very tight bass and very loud considering it's an 8 inch subwoofer. I only use it for music so can't say how it will work with movies but for music it's great! Now I feel like it's a bit tight. in its sound, but hopefully it will break and open up a bit. But overall a nice compliment to my floorstanding speakers and it works when hooked up to my Yamaha RX-A550 receiver. It was better than I expected. Sturdy construction and quite heavy so don't think you're getting something inconsequential. I am very pleased! Will try to buy more Jamo products in the future!
