I just spent two days trying to get the SSD hardware encryption to work with Windows Bitlocker - nothing worked. And there is NO documentation on how to enable it - a google search turns up a lot of people having problems. I couldn't even get it to use Bitlocker software encryption after doing a Samsung data migration as an OS disk. In the end, I just had no other options - I went back to my 970 EVO and the software-encrypted OS drive and used the 980 PRO as the Bitlocker software-encrypted data drive. I've tried everything on two different systems with the same problem - Big marketing hype for something that doesn't work and is undocumented. I find the EVO just as good as the 980 in real life. Hardware encryption would have made this much faster. I should have saved my money and gone with the 970 EVO.
