Review on LG HU70LAB 4K UHD Smart Home Theater CineBeam Projector: Alexa Built-in, ThinQ AI, Google Assistant, webOS Lite Smart TV - Netflix, VUDU (Black) by Rich Schobinger

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Recommended with some caveats

I originally rated this projector 3 stars. But the performance here is truly phenomenal. The whole package gives an extra star. And I updated my previous review. After even more testing, I found that the black levels are there. acceptable. He has good qualities. He has bad qualities. The good outweighs the bad. In short, if you are going to replace the TV with this projector, then by all means take it. I had a 10 foot (120 inch diagonal) screen and was very impressed at first sight in low light conditions. The color is really excellent as others have noted. eye- and picture-filling. Color is what makes this LED projector shine (pun intended). he is beautiful The problems start when you dim the lights for clarity because. the same image you saw in ambient light? It's almost the same as in low light. There are no additional dark spots in the shadows. It will always be good color and only acceptable darkness. 30,000 hours lamp life. This is the lifespan of a light source close to the TV, which is usually a problem area for projectors. It advertises the lack of a rainbow effect, although oddly I thought I'd caught one here or there. It has LG webOS integrated and can run many great apps in full 4k resolution (currently not Disney+ or Hulu). That's easy. It's slim. It has a magic backlit remote control. But it has bad, bad black levels, so you have to blur the image to render it in HDR (much better performance in SDR). It has decent but not great input lag for gaming (40+ ms for 4k, 50+ ms for SD). It's not the best visually (I've had some focus uniformity issues). It's actually not that bright, despite the incredible vibrancy of the color. Strange, it seemed to me that it would affect you more in the dark than in daylight. The brightness also depends more on my desired screen size (120 inches). With a smaller size, the brightness can be much more acceptable. As I said, he has good and bad qualities. This projector is good. I preach black levels, especially with HDR content, but this is by no means the worst projector I've ever used, 4 stars.
