Review on 🎧 S.M.S.L SH-9 Headphone Amplifier - THX AAA Technology, RCA/XLR Input, 6.35MM Balanced by Wilbert Luoma

Compared to other headphone amps in the same category with AAA technology, XLP inputs, XLR headphone output and 3W or more output the SMSL SH-9 is a great build, especially with the remote control (!) and the LCD screen. The only thing it lacks are outputs for preamp use, but I didn't buy it for preamp use - I wanted headphone amplification and only high output. This unit is a top-notch performer with clear sound, super channel separation, and great performance. I plug in a few different headphones but I usually use an Audeze LCD-2 (with Phazor) and this amp works great. The sound signature is absolutely neutral and full in all frequencies, which is what the LCD-2 needs with its relaxed character. No additional colors are needed in the signal - just a pure pure source as desired. My only gripe is that the volume control clicks, but the technology behind the volume control is definitely worth the compromise - super precise and 100% right and left balanced. Highly recommended.
