Familiarize yourself with color temperatures

I'm cool with these new LED bulbs (pun intended), but I have to admit that I had to learn a whole new vocabulary when it comes to color temperatures, lumens and watts. A 40 watt light bulb used to be 40 watts, and you knew what you were going to see. So when I had to replace a 40-watt light bulb in my bathroom, I immediately thought of these LED bulbs. There are many opportunities. 4 watts, 5 watts, 6 watts, 3000K temperature, 4000K temperature and so on. The rest of the lightbulbs in the bathroom are also LED. Although I didn't think about the temperature when I put in the other bulbs, it must be around 5000K, and also because now all the bulbs are the same color - bright white, almost blue. White and blue, I'll leave them all for now because I'm frugal. If the first one blows, I'll change everything. And it will be a warmer temperature, maybe in the 4000K or 3000K range. So experiment with lumens, power and color. A whole new world of lighting technology! A 40 watt lightbulb is no longer a 40 watt lightbulb. And I'm so glad I have more choices than those ugly CF (Compact Fluorescent) bulbs that have been foisted on us in the past.
