Review on ๐Ÿ’ง Sterile Syringe Filter with Hydrophilic Diameter by Jake Pavelko

A real savior. Must be.

The use of this product is non-negotiable. It might seem a bit expensive at first, but the cost is negligible compared to the benefit. You MUST use these filters - and yes, THESE filters. Sterile PES 0.22 ยตm. Because they not only remove particles, but also sterilize the solution. These filters screw onto the end of any standard syringe. 10ml syringes work well. The tip fits the needle perfectly, for example a 21 gauge needle is very tight. That means you can filter a syringe full of your solution directly into another syringe, this second one appears to be empty and *unused/sterile!* With a fresh filter, sterile needle and sterile 2nd syringe, the filtered solution should now be perfectly sterile inside his environment. The importance of this cannot be overestimated. However, you should pre-filter before using any of these filters. Whether through a cotton filter or just let all particles settle and separate from the solution and simply draw the top layer of the mostly clear liquid into your original (non-sterile) syringe. In any case, you need to push solutions with as few particles as possible, because these particles very quickly clog the filter and prevent further filtration. IF THIS HAPPENS - very gently pull out the syringe and try again - DO NOT try to force the solution into it! You will break the filter! The filter will clog over time, this is how it works. Compared to other filters, they can definitely handle a lot more fine dust before completely clogging, but objectively speaking, still only a small amount. In any case, these filters are for single use only. You can extend this up to 1 day, but do so at your own risk. After the first use, the bacteria and fungi that you filtered out (which are now stuck in the filter) will begin to grow and multiply. That's why you don't want to use the old filters. They are also more prone to developing microcracks and allowing bacteria to pass as they age. Again, 1 day is the absolute maximum - even that long you should do it at your own risk. Single use only is the manufacturer's official recommendation, but it can get prohibitively expensive depending on how often you need to filter something. Quality control is top notch here. A very high quality product that is absolutely indispensable. 11/10

Pros
  • ๐Ÿ”– BIOSAFETY: Meets USP bioreactivity requirements for Class VI plastics. It is better to check the accuracy of the experiment.
