Very satisfied I have no problems with this item. I didn't bother to cut out a new keychain. Nor should you do it unless a new key fob is required. Transfer the old key fob (part of the key) to the new case. Open the old main body, remove the circuit board and "snap" it into place. Remove the VW logo sticker (that's where the battery lives) and put in a new battery while you're there. I had a fully functional remote/key in 5 minutes. I've lost some functions on my remote control because the buttons are worn out. You will hardly find a locksmith who will cut out a new key and transfer the transponder. If your physical key still works, leave it alone and transfer this part to your newly assembled key/remote! By the way, keep ALL your old parts!
