Replacement is very easy - it was the entire heater replacement kit so all I had to do was remove the vent cover, loosen a few mounting screws and pull out the old unit. Revolution. This part is literally "plug and play" - there is a standard outlet for power in the ceiling fan housing. However, the reason my previous device didn't work was that the wires were shorted to metal (probably due to the wire insulation melting from contact with hot metal over time). So know what you are doing and if you have any problems you should probably just ask a reputable handyman or electrician to help you out. Otherwise, the exchange was very easy and it has been working great again for a few months.
